Child obesity has hit an all time high. Teachers and health workers are very concerned about this and have set up a national CHALLENGE to discover the healthiest daily eating plan for a child aged 7.

TASK:

Create a 5 day eating plan for yourself that includes all five food groups.

Which foods would you include and why?

 

POINTS TO CONSIDER:

* Define obesity using Learning Tools. Click on LearningTools.

* What are the 5 food groups?

* What foods are included in the 5 food groups?

* What foods do like and dislike?

* What are your dietary needs?

* Do you have any food allergies?

Step 1

* Using Kidspiration, Kid Pix or a similar program design a Five Food Group diagram. Click on the The Five Food Groups.

Step 2

* Download and print out the Daily Food Diary

Step 3

* Complete Daily Food Diary

(Remembering to include a variety of foods from each food group. )

Step 4

 Presentation:

  • You may present your information on the Five Food Groups as either a poster or an oral presentation.
  • To present your Daily Food Diary you can either write or illustrate your food choices.

Evaluation:

* Evaluation will be based upon your design of the Five Foods Groups in Kid Pix or similar program.

* Your understanding of the Five Food Groups through the Food Group Pyramid.

* Your presentation of your food diary.
